Session Two: A Tale of Two Communities
"Under the present Canadian system our dependence and our poverty are almost total. Suffering this impoverishment
is even more painful when we are forced to watch the settlers who live on our land enjoy almost 100 per cent of our
natural wealth and resources. Colonialism in Canada means we either live in poverty or we assimilate and disappear
completely into the settler society. Colonialism in Canada is cultural genocide hidden behind the notion that
Canadians are smart and civilized and Indigenous peoples are stupid and primitive. —Arthur Manuel
